The Zine Exchange Manifesto.

eight things we believe, in ink.
Read this before you sign up

1. Publish without permission.

You do not need a publisher, platform, algorithm, degree, brand, audience, or polished identity to share an idea. You need paper. You need a copier. You need a stamp. The rest is yours.

2. Readers over followers.

Followers are counted. Readers are reached. We care more about one real person holding your work than a thousand dead impressions. There is no follower count on this platform. There will never be a follower count on this platform.

3. Physical media still matters.

Paper has weight. Mail has ritual. Envelopes feel like someone thought of you. Digital is fast and disposable. Physical is slow and yours.

4. Imperfect is alive.

Typos, tape marks, uneven staples, strange folds, and crooked photocopies are not failures. They are fingerprints. We are not optimizing your zine. We are not running it through a brand filter. Send it the way it actually came out of the machine.

5. Community beats virality.

We are not here to go viral. We are here to circulate. The goal is movement, not metrics. A zine that reaches ten of the right people has done more work than a post that reaches a hundred thousand of the wrong ones.

6. The underground deserves tools.

DIY culture does not mean doing everything alone with no tools. It means doing it without permission. We can build real infrastructure — profiles, address handling, matching, groups, exports — without selling out the spirit. Punk surface. Clear structure.

7. Weird is welcome. Harm is not.

Be strange. Be intense. Be sincere. Be difficult. Be political. Be queer. Be uncool. Be a goblin. But do not harass, exploit, stalk, threaten, doxx, or dehumanize people. We don't want to write a hundred rules. Don't make us.

8. Send the thing.

Make the zine. Mail the zine. Trade the zine. Let the idea leave your room. Done is better than perfect. Mailed is better than drafted. The mailbox is still a portal.

Get something real from someone real.
